Managing the site using config
We change the standard settings for the system in admin > config, providing us with dynamic control over key names, address details, company information, festival dates and other system-wide elements.
email settings

Names and emails that are set here are for system tasks (i.e. you may not have a 'technical manager', however the system requires a name/email address to send technical messages to. The names here can all be the same, however we'd recommend that you keep the emergency email as emergency@festivalsystems.net.
company details

Company info is used in to auto-fill the boilerplate contract and deal memo documents.
The tax name and percentage is configurable so that the system can cater to multiple territories. Altering the tax percentage will affect all contract figures where those artists are registered for the tax (see contracts), and will also feed through into the financial reports.
dates and times

Festival year, month and days are not configurable as altering date information may cause time and scheduling problems across your system. If they are in error, please get in touch with festivalsystems .
The next day hour is the internal switch-over time between days. For instance, if this is set to '03' and an artist is playing at 1am on a Sunday morning, then they are regarded as a Saturday performer (and included in the reports as such) and an artist performing at 4am would be a Sunday act.
Currently the next day hour doesn't alter how the graphical scheduler displays - this will be added in a future development phase.
ticket types and emailing

Ticket types are used for artist, crew and artist's guests (if needed). You can have as many here as you require.
Emailing deposit reminders to accounts tells the system to email the accounts contact (set above) with artist and deposit info on the day that any deposit is due (set in the artist's contract page).
Emailing artist on payment of deposit will fire off a very brief email to both the Artist and Management contacts when the deposit paid button is clicked.
Turning on tech pages is really only relevant when you are letting artists access the site. You may want to check the technical system to ensure that the pages are being built as you require, but don't want artists to view these pages until you're ready. Similarly, you can turn these pages off as the festival date approaches so that changes can't be made.
Grouping the artist dropdown lets you change the manner in which the dropdown menu in the artist pages is built. If this is off, then all the (confirmed) artists will be listed in alphabetical order. If on, then the list will be grouped by performance types - set when you assign stage time(s). If you have a wide range of performance types (bands, talks, workshops, dance, etc) where staff are focused on specific areas, then turning this on may help.
Email on Artist add tells the system to email these addresses when a new (confirmed) artist has been added to the system. This lets you inform other members of staff when the programming team have added an act, allowing them to start processing the artist.
Module controls

There are various notification controls that allows us switch on/off some of the modules plus hide other elements of functionality, such as whether the contract pages offers the ability to create boilerplate documents.
